Directions:  Use a thin layer on affected areas. Use for 15-30 minutes a day at first, and increase wearing time gradually until medication can be tolerated all night. Slight irritation is normal, and temporary. If going outside, use sunscreen. Allow the Acne Gel to dry, then follow directions on the sunscreen labeling. If irritation or sensitivity develops discontinue use of product, and consult the clinic.

Benzoyl peroxide is not indicated for use around the eyes, nose, mouth, mucous membranes, and open skin as it may cause irritation

 

Percentage Recommendation: 

Most people can start with the Acne Gel 5% but if you tend to be more sensitive, then we would suggest starting with the 2.8%. Once skin has adjusted to Acne Gel 5% then it is recommended to start introducing Acne Gel10%. 

 

Acne Gel 2.8%: used as a starting point for overly sensitive skin

 

Acne Gel 5%: used as a starting point for most skin types

How does Benzoyl Peroxide Oxygenate the skin?

Why is it important to have a gel formulation when using Benzoyl Peroxide?

A gel formulation ensures better delivery, absorption, stability, and tolerability of benzoyl peroxide—making it a more effective and skin-friendly choice for treating acne, especially for those with oily or combination skin. 

 

What benefits does oxygenating the pores have? 

Bacteria cannot grow in an oxygenated state; therefore, oxygenating the pores helps to kill the bacteria

 

Can Acne Gel be used with a moisturizer? 

We do not recommend applying moisturizer over the top of Acne Gel.  The moisturizer can actually cancel out the effects of Acne Gel. If you must wear moisturizer after Acne Gel, we recommend that you wait at least 30min after applying Acne Gel before you apply the moisturizer.  

 

Is Acne Gel a spot treatment or full-face application?

Acne Gel should be used as a full-face application; it is not a spot treatment unless specified by your coach. 

 

Can I wear makeup overtop of Acne Gel?

Yes, you can wear makeup over the top of the Acne Gel.  We recommend that you wait at least a half hour before applying any makeup or moisturizer overtop of your Acne Gel. 

 

Can Acne Gel be used on all skin tones?

Yes, Acne Gel can be used on all skin tones

 

What if I have dry skin naturally, can I still use Acne Gel? 

Even people with dry skin can use Acne Gel.  We recommend pairing it with our HydraBoost for people with dry skin.  Also, our coaches will be able to give you a regimented schedule that introduces Acne Gel a little slower for people with dry skin.  

 

Why is my Acne Gel so drying? 

Some dryness is common with Acne Gel, that is why we’ve created an integration period within the suggested use which will allow your skin to slowly regulate to the Acne Gel and helps decrease the chance of dryness.  We understand, even with this method there are times that we still feel a little dry with Acne Gel and in those cases we recommend pairing it with our HydraBoost to help create a light barrier and lock in moisture.  

 

Does Acne Gel disrupt my skin’s microbiome? 

Research has shown that benzoyl peroxide does not disrupt the skin’s microbiome.  It may have more of a balancing effect because it regulates the proliferation of P.acnes bacteria. 
 

Is Acne Gel safe to use during pregnancy?

Topical application of the active ingredient in Acne Med, benzoyl peroxide, is generally considered safe during pregnancy + breastfeeding due to its low systematic absorption.  However, we always recommend you talk with your doctor first.

 

Are there any adverse reactions to Acne Gel?

The most common adverse effect comes from the active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, and that is its bleaching quality.  Potentially causing the discoloration of colored fabrics and bleaching of hair.  

At higher concentrations of topical Benzoyl Peroxide, can cause mild dryness and erythema
