Vitamin B12

B12 is acne triggering similarly to iodine. It causes inflammation in the pores making it easier to become clogged with the extra cellular turnover rate, for those with acne prone skin. That being said, unless you are truly deficient and a doctor has prescribed this to you, we do not recommend supplementing with this.  Small amounts of B12 are not typically acne triggering, however larger amounts can be very problematic.

B12 is naturally found in animal and dairy products, and is essential to the body.   If you are eating meat you should have a sufficient amount of B12 in your diet already, as the essential daily value is only 2.5 mcg.

Also, please keep in mind that a large amount of B12 tends to show up in a lot of non-dairy products, multivitamins, nutritional drink powders and kombucha, so remember to check your ingredient labels.
