Procedure / Policy Overview

How to properly process daily clinic laundry in an effort to ensure laundry is prepared for clinic clients. 


 

 

Esthetician Soiled Linen Procedure 

 

  1. Upon completion of each treatment your soiled linen must be taken to the “Dirty Linen” bin found near the Esthetician Sanitation Station.

  2. The “Dirty Linen” bin is a two part linen bin allowing sheets and towels to be separated for proper washing procedure to be followed.

  3. The lid to this bin must remain covered at all times.

  4. A laundry bag must be in the bin at all times. Sheets and towels are not to be placed in the bin without a laundry bag. I.E. Linen should be separated by color in the bin such as lights and darks.

  5. All Uniforms are to be placed in the sheets section of the bin prior to departing for your daily shift.

  6. Note that all sheets/towels will be processed by the Receptionists. Estheticians are responsible for maintaining the processing of uniforms.

 
 

Esthetician Clean Linen Procedure 

 

  1. Clean linens will be found neatly stocked in the cabinetry located to the left of the Estheticians Sanitation station.

 

  1. New linen must be used for each service performed.

 

  1. Linen is to remain neatly organized and stocked.

 

  1. Each room is to be stocked with linens at the end of each shift as found in your daily checklist. 

 

  1. Note that the responsibility of processing laundry will be assigned to the receptionists.




 

 

Receptionist Dirty Linen Procedure 

Note that it is the responsibility of the opening and closing receptionist to complete the recurring daily task of processing linen.

  1. Each hour the receptionist is to process dirty laundry should there be a full load of dirty laundry to process.

  2. The “Dirty Linen” Bin is the black bin located in the Estheticians Sanitation Station found in the back of the clinic.

  3. Sheets and towels must be processed separately. These items are not to be combined.

  4. When processing a load of linen please only use the allotted amount specified on the detergent lid. This amount is 2 tablespoons or ½ of the detergent cap. 

    1. If washing towels a cap of bleach must be used in addition to detergent.

    2. The water temperature should be set to warm.

  5. Upon completion of the load, please place all items into the dryer. The Lint filter is to be emptied at each load placed in the dryer.

  6. Proceed with an additional load of laundry should one have accumulated.

  7. Prior to departing from the laundry closet receptionist is to ensure the laundry room is clean and maintained. Free of any detergent spills and debris

  8. Upon returning to the desk please set the timer located at the front desk to (1) hour in an effort to ensure a timely turnaround.

 

 

Receptionist Clean Linen Procedure 

 

  1. Each hour the receptionist is to remove any clean laundry from the dryer.

  2. Upon removal of the items and dependent on coverage/ appointments on the schedule, all items must be folded neatly and placed in the cabinetry located to the left of the Estheticians Sanitation.

  3. Should the schedule not permit an immediate turn around, please ensure all clean linen is placed in the “Clean Linen” bin located in the room connected to the Estheticians Sanitation station where employee cubbies are located.

  4. Please ensure items are not left in the bin for an extended period as clean linen will wrinkle and become unpresentable. 

  5. Should the receptionist be unable to address the clean linen within an hour it is expected that a member of the leadership team is informed to assist with finding coverage for the completion of linen. 

  6. Prior to departing from the laundry closet receptionist is to ensure the laundry room is clean and maintained. Free of any detergent spills and debris

 

 

Conclusion

 

  • It is the responsibility of the scheduled receptionist to maintain clinic laundry

  • Each hour clean/dirty linen is to be processed. 

  • It is the responsibility of the receptionist to communicate the reorder of detergent once at ½ of the bottle.

  • If this task is unattainable due to business demands a member of leadership must be informed.
