SNOW REMOVAL AND SALTING SIDEWALKS
Policy
In order to keep our clients, staff and visitors safe from falls, when snow accumulation is more than 1 inch, the Front Desk Coordinator is responsible for snow removal and salting of sidewalks & doorways prior to the first employee and clients arrival and throughout the day.
Task
When snow accumulation is more than 1 inch, the Front Desk Associate:
1. Retrieves shovel and salt container from shipping area.
2. Shovels sidewalks in the front of the building and shipping door steps. Things to keep in mind, icicles can form around windows and doors, please be vigilant when shoveling and removing these from doorways to help prevent any injuries. Shoveling should be done as needed throughout the day as snow accumulates.
3. Salts walkways and shipping door steps as needed. Salting is to be done periodically as necessary in temperatures at or around freezing to prevent ice from forming.
4. Stores shovel and small salt containers back in the shipping area. Be sure to remove any snow from the shovel before storing inside.
5. Refill salt container if needed. Extra salt is stored in the shed.
Please note, salt will be tracked inside so extra care will be taken in the lobby and shipping area for any salt that is tracked in throughout the day. Extra vacuuming requirements may be necessary.
