The CH wash is 5% Mandelic Acid while the FR is 1% Mandelic Acid. The CH version will be more effective in treating Rosacea and keeping people clear in Maintenance. Remember, Mandelic is a gentle acid, so while the wash is stronger, the acid itself is still gentle. The main difference between the two products is that the CH wash does not contain Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate which is a surfactant (Surfactants are chemical compounds that decrease the surface tension or interfacial tension between two liquids, a liquid and a gas, or a liquid and a solid.) Surfactants may function as emulsifiers, wetting agents, detergents, or foaming agents. Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate is drying and irritating to the skin. It is commonly used in formulations because it produces lots of foam.
CH wash also has honey in the formulation which is very healing to the skin. It is used to heal burn wounds, and possess numerous functional properties such as: antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, disinfectant, antifungal and antiviral.
The CH formulation also has Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate Leuconostoc which is derived from radishes fermented with Leuconostoc kimchii, a lactic acid bacteria that has traditionally been used to make kimchi. The virtually odorless, slightly tinted liquid contains an isolated peptide that is secreted from the bacteria during the fermentation process that has been shown to have antimicrobial benefits. This makes it an ideal, natural and mild alternative to addressing problematic skin or scalp conditions. This vitamin-rich extract contains vitamins A, C and K, which are known to help prevent skin disorders and result in better cell repair. Its fiber content helps get rid of harmful toxins, resulting in clear skin.
